Home Articles Nrisimha Caturdasi

Devotees at the Hare Krishna Centre celebrated this year's Nrisimha Caturdasi in a festive mood. The altar was wonderfully decorated with multicoloured pieces of fabric entwined in each other, thus providing a beautiful backdrop for Sri Sri Nitai Saci-Sundara and Giri Govardhana.

Many devotees turned up for the festival. There were shouts of delight and astonishment when the curtains opened revealing the beautifully decorated forms of Their Lordships. The arati ceremony was more ecstatic than ever with devotees chanting and dancing joyfully to the Hare Krishna mantra.

The main attraction of the evening was an old Hindi film with English subtitles featuring the entire pastime of Lord Nrisimhadeva and His dear devotee Prahlada. The movie started with the pastime of the Lord killing the demon Hiranyaksa and ended with the appearance of the Lord in His ferocious half lion half man incarnation. The film was a good mixture of drama and light entertainment, especially with its funny scenes at the gurukula of Hiranyakashipu.

The evening ended with a delicious vegetarian prasadam feast for all and devotees left with the Lord in His ferocious form as Nrisimhadeva deeply impressed in their hearts.
